A very rainy winter lead to beautiful spring weather and now a busy summer.
Marbella again has top occupation as people arrive from all over the world. Even Michele Obama has decided to spend a few days of rest in Marbella.
Since the beginning of the year we have seen a few important happenings:
-Malaga airport inaugurated a new terminal allowing much more traffic and placing this airport amongst the most modern in Europe. With this and the high-speed train, Marbella is now very well connected.
-Marbella planning definitely approved. At long last the regional government has definitely approved Marbella planning putting an end to many years of uncertainties. This shall definitely have a positive outcome on the market in years to come. The previous planning approved by the regional government dates back to 1986.
-Work has progressed on the San Pedro tunnel. Once this is finished, this shall be a major improvement to the infrastructure in Marbella and shall enhance properties in the San Pedro area. The Town-hall has made improvements to the sea promenade and a new bridge has been built over Rio Verde, which enables people to walk from Puerto Banus to Marbella.
-The Town-hall has made an effort to increase security in Marbella. The increase in numbers of Police is very noticeable and many check-controls are done on entrances of urbanization's. As a result the overall security has improved.
With regard to the Marbella property market, it has clearly been improving since the beginning of the year. Inquiries are coming from many parts of the world as buyers realize that we have reached the bottom of the market.
There has never been a better time to buy as prices have reached a periodic low-point, interest rates are similarly at their lowest level in many years, and the offer of real estate make it a buyer's market.
Property investment remains the best conduit to increasing wealth over the medium to long term. Economic history shows us that that property prices tend to rise over time, albeit within a cyclical framework. Prices rise and prices fall, but the overall trend is firmly upwards. Whether you invest at the top of a market or at the bottom, you will make money over the long-term although investing near to the bottom generally means the timeframe for making money is shortened.
